Little Birdie Greeting Cards

Hello again Creative friends,

We have so many family birthday celebrations this month, I decided to make some quick and easy greeting cards. I like the DL size. It looks very elegant and I always have DL envelopes in my drawer. I also quite like the feminine Fairy Sparkle paper collection for the cards as it is mostly females celebrating birthdays this month.

I used white card-stock for the base of the cards. I cut it them 19.8cm x 21cm and scored the on 9.9cm leaving me with a 9.9cm x 21cm card. Perfect to fit into a DSL envelope. I also cut 3 pieces from the purple paper as a matt. (9.3 cm x 20.5cm) and 3 pieces with some flower detail measuring 8.8cm x 19.9cm.

The chipboard frames and title was coloured with the Antique Gold wax.

And the other two titles I painted with some White Gesso.

Every card is different. I arranged the gold frames and titles and embellished with Cheesecloth and flowers. The white space areas I splattered with gold paint. (Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic Paint)

The titles  looked a bit bland so I added a little natural Mica powder for some sparkle.

Here are a few close-ups:

"Live, Love, Life" Single Page Layout

Hi there Creatives!

We are experiencing a really cold and grey winter this year here in the Cape and when I saw the beautiful Autumn Sunset collection with the warm colours from Prima Marking, I just had to have it. I bought all the paper and flowers from The Scrapbook Studio in Jeffrey's Bay, where I recently taught a class. What a magical shopping experience! This silly photograph was taken at one of my recent classes while we were checking the lighting for our photo booth.

This single page layout has some mixed media elements with lots of layering behind the photograph, the focal point of my layout.

I wanted the accentuate the background and used the Odyssey Prima Watercolour Confections  paint to do it. I did paint the complete background with clear Gesso first.  I love the vibrant pigments of the Prima Watercolour paints. I used the Rome and Inca colours.

I love adding texture to my pages and this time I used the Prima Icing Paste, Vintage Gold and a stencil randomly behind the layers.

The flowers from various packs were arranged in clusters around the focal point and I painted the chipboard with Tinted Metallic paint, Golden Glaze from Little Birdie.

The layout lacked a little sparkle so I added some afterwards!

I hope you found some inspiration here today and thank you for stopping by!

Happy creative play until next time!

"Happy". Single Page Layout

Hi there Creatives!

Crafting is my "happy place"  and this photo was taken on a tea-break at a Soul Sister Craft Club event. I was wearing my favourite colour: pink and the Little Birdie pink scrapbook papers are just perfect for this single page layout!

For the background I used the pink paper from the Chevron in Aquarelle paper pack. I trimmed it to 11.5" x 11.5" and distressed the edges before I adhered it to white card-stock. I used the chevron stencil and Mixed Media Paste to accentuate the chevron paper.

The Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic Paint is a firm favourite with me and I watered it down before I randomly splattered the background.

I coloured the primed chipboard title and embellishment with  Rich Gold Metallic Wax.

The layering behind the photograph consists of papers from various Little Birdie paper packs and the flower cluster as well.

Here are some close up pictures:
