Altered Hand

Hi there Creatives!

This time I altered a wooden artist hand model. I decided on a  vintage theme. This was great fun, I hope it inspires you to also create a mixed media altered project.

Let's start!

I first adhered the hand to a MDF gift box that I turned upside down. The gift box will be the foot piece of my vintage hand statue. I use the Net Design Primed Chipboard to cut in pieces and adhered it to the eight sides of the polygon with Heavy Gel Medium. I also adhered some lace to the hand for  texture.

Then I painted it all with white Gesso and added some Crackle Paste randomly to add texture, interest and depth.

I also painted a cherub and frame with white Gesso and the small canvass with Crackle paint.
Tip: the thicker you apply the Crackle Paint, the bigger the cracks are.

Once it was all dry I used Mocha Color Splash to add depth in the cracks and crannies. I sprayed and lifted the excess spray with a baby Wipe until I was happy with the result. I dry brushed with white gesso again on the hand and when it was dry, with a little Golden Glaze.

I followed the same procedure on the chipboard on the foot piece. I wiped away the access and dry brushed with Golden Glaze again.  I also used  Drift Wood Chalk Paint on the top of the foot piece.

The white flowers needed some depth, so I used the Mocha Color Splash to give depth in the centers . And to brighten them up, I painted with a Coral watercolour paint on the petals, and then dry brushed with Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic paint around the edges of the flowers and the stamens. I dusted with a little Mica Powder.

I sprayed the small frame with Mocha Color Splash to give depth and dry bushed with the Golden Glaze Metallic Tinted paint to give the gilded  illusion. The Cherub was also sprayed with Mocha Color Splash and the access wiped away with a Baby Wipe. I adhered a small piece of scrapbook paper to the canvas as background for the Cherub.

And that's it!  I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, until next time!
Happy Crafting!
