The Sweetest Christmas Cards

Hi there Creatives!

Isn't Christmas Time the BEST time of the year?

I made these Christmas cards with Mintay Papers, The Sweetest Christmas Collection. The friendly fat Santa faces are just adorable!

All Mintay Papers paper packs has two sheets of each design and a bonus elements page , perfect for fussy cutting.

For these cards I used the 6" x 6" size. I dry embossed the background on white card-stock and added a bit of water-colour paint. I also splattered with the pink paint and Champagne All Purpose Ink.

Altered Mixed Media Memory Box

Hi there Creatives!

This time of the year is like a wild roller coaster ride! The days are too short, energy levels are low and my creative Mojo is playing hide and seek!

I did manage to complete this altered mixed media wooden trinket box. It  took me 2 weeks to complete amidst all the interruptions. So I am sorry to say that it was impossible to take step by step photos like I normally do.

I first painted the wooden box and randomly added a torn serviette with gel medium. I then stencilled with rose gold crackle paste to add dimension and stamped with a few different stamps to create a layered look.

The resin elements was first painted with black Gesso and then covered with wax and finished off with silver and copper leave. (A new favourite technique!)

Christmas Tags in a little Box

Hi there Creatives!

Christmas time is my favourite time of the year. I'm already planning my gift list and obviously need gift tags. The "Home for Christmas" paper collection from Mintay Paper is just perfect for gift tags. I also made a little box for them to fit in. Now they can be a gift for someone special too!

The gift tags are easy to make, with lots of (therapeutical) fussy cutting!

Let me show you how I did it:

The Box:
Bottom:
Cut 8 ¼” x 10 ¾ ”
Score 1” and 2” on all sides
Cut away as shown on the diagram

Top:
Cut 8 3/8 ” x  10 7/8”
Score 1” and 2” on all sides
Cut away as shown on diagram

Fold the sides over twice. Hide the little piece of the long side in the short side and adhere with red tape. Do the same for the top and bottom.

I decorated the top of the box with the organza ribbon and fussy cut elements. Some elements were raised and I finished off with fairy dust.

Tag Divider insert:
Cut 4 ¼ ” x 9 ¾”
Score 2 ¼”  , 3” , 3 ¾” , 6” , 6 ¾” , 7 ½”
Adhere the two score areas to form a divider.

Tags:
Cut 18x cardstock pieces:    2” x 4” pieces
Cut 18x mixed pattern paper pieces: 1 7/8 “ x 3 7/8 “
Round the top corners and sand the edges
Adhere the small piece onto the large piece
Punch a hole in the top of the tag for the twine
Embellish with fussy-cut elements from the pattern paper.
Raise some parts with foam squares
Finally add some Fairy Dust glitter with a glue pen.
Add twine

And the you have it! A beautiful box with 18 Christmas gift tags to gif as a gift or to tag your Christmas presents this year.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this project. Or found some inspiration to create your own.

Happy Creative Play !

Happiness

Hi there Creatives!

A few of my girlfriends and I recently went for breakfast at Hazendal Wine Estate and spontaneously took some photographs. This donkey made from stones was so beautiful, just looking at this beautiful stone creation made me happy!

I created a mixed media single page layout with papers from 49 and Market, the Rusty Autumn Collection and lots of Tim Holtz products, all picked up from The Scrapbook Studio the last time I was in Jeffreys bay.

I wanted to add more interest to the paper with layers of mixed media products.  I started by covering the page with clear Gesso and transferred old book paper with Gel Medium. Then I stencilled with embossing paste coloured with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. To create a watercolour look, I watered the Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink down and randomly painted over the background paper. I also splattered with the Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and Champagne Mist All Purpose Ink.

The swirls were created with Prima's Bronze Age Metallique Wax, and a Tim Holtz stencil.

Here are a few close-up picture of my layout:

The chipboard elements were foiled with the GoPress and Foil

The seam binding ribbon was coloured with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.

Finally I added flowers and Copper Glass Glitter from Prima and Tim Holtz word stickers.

I hope you found some inspiration here. Thank you for stopping by.

Couture Creations Design Team Audition 2019

I was so excited to see the Design Team call for 2019-2020 as I absolutely love the  GoPress and Foil and the GoCut and Emboss. And of course all the fabulous dies! My favourite is obviously the Cut Foil and Emboss dies!

Unfortunately I haven't used any Couture Creations paper in my projects yet, mainly because I haven't had direct access to it until recently, but I do love the paper!

To choose my favourite projects was difficult but here they are:

A mixed media single page layout with lots of delicate die cutting:

A double page mixed media layout with lots of foiling elements:

And another favourite:

I do not have many yet but here is one of my YouTube videos:

A quick card for a Wedding

Hi there Creatives!

I want to share a quick card I made for a friend's wedding. The Amor Mio Paper collection from Little Birdie Crafts is perfect for wedding cards and layouts.  I used the Pale Gold Fairy Dust to add some glamour and splattered with my favourite: Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic Paint!

Here are a few close-ups of the card:

Perfect Together

Hi there Creatives!

The vibrant colors of the Aqua Medley Collection are one of my favorite Collections from Little Birdie Crafts! For this single page layout, I choose to use a white card-stock background with some mixed media elements.

This is how I created the layout:

I adhered the white card-stock to one of the Aqua Medley patterned paper. I trimmed the card-stock 0,5" smaller. I painted the background first with Gesso and then added a little water color paint.

The Silver Sage Sparkle Paste is one of my favourite sparkle pastes, and so is the Script Stencil. I added the Sparkle Paste to add more layers to the background.

I toned the paper down with white Gesso to use as layering behind the photograph.

The flowers needed some sparkle too so I repeated the Silver Sage Sparkle paste on the stamens and toned the green leaves down with white Gesso.

The chipboard embelishment was painted with Terracotta Chalk Paint.

The different sized patterned paper layers was adhered with Gel Medium and I also used the heavy bodied Gel medium to adhere the Sisal behind the photograph. The photograph was raised on two layers of cardboard.

I created my own embellishments with glass domes and images from the patterned paper. I adhered the dome with gel Medium, let it dry and then cut it out with a small sharp scissor.

The small butterflies was fussy cut from the Aqua medley embellishment page and the rust ribbon is from my stash.

Close up picture of the domes and a small card cut from the front page of the paper pack.

Here are more close-up pics of the layout:
