The Best is Yet to Come!

 Hi there Creatives!

I've recently been asked by Tracy Schimper from "Art From The Heart" to design something with the new "Tranquility" Collection. The paper range is absolute stunning and this photograph I took on the Yzerfontein Beach here in South Africa was the perfect choice.

I loved creating this single page layout.

I used white gesso to tone the background down a bit and stamped randomly with a damask and Chinese writing stamp. This created an layered effect.

I fussy cut flowers and other elements from the paper sheets and combined it with flowers and GoPress&Foil elements to create this interesting cluster of elements.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope this leaves you inspired to engage in some creative play!

Make a Wish!

Hi there Creatives!

This time I really stretched my boundaries and worked with colour out of my comfort zone! I normally like to work with more subdued colors, but I thought :  let me be adventurous and go for Yellow!

This photo taken of my daughter on her seventeenth Birthday is so whimsical and filled with glorious yellows and gold, perfect for this layout!

I created the background on paper from my stash and yellow paper from the Little Birdie Chevrons in Aquarelle Collection. I tore a piece and adhered it a little off side . I applied Mixed Media Paste through the LB Script Stencil.

I sprayed Tangerine and Lime Splash Color Splash randomly. I also splattered with watered down white Gesso and Golden Glaze Tinted Metallic Paint across the page.

The LB Chipboard is already primed therefor it is easy to paint the Golden Glaze   Tinted Metallic paint on it. I really love the little wreath.

To create the layered effect behind the photograph, I used old book paper and an off cut piece of paper from my stash. I tucked the chipboard and leaves in behind the photo and added some leaves. finally I adhered the flowers and some self adhesive pearls.

Here are some close up photos:

Blessed

Hi there Creatives!

I’m back again with another layout. I really enjoy using the Texture Brew papers to create an interesting background for layouts. This time I combined it with a peachy color from the “Chevron in Aquarelle” paper pack.

Let me show you what I did.

Although Little Birdies chipboard words are primed already, I wanted it whiter so I painted it with the white Gesso. I also painted the Cloud tags with white Gesso.

I used a Wet Wipe to apply the white Gesso to the background. I find it applies the Gesso more evenly.

To create the background I tore 2 pieces of the blue-ish wood grain paper to leave a “window’ in the middle of the page. Again I applied Gesso with a Wet Wipe. I also stenciled with Grainy texture paste and the stencil. I splattered with the Berry Blast Color Splash and white Gesso, and layered some old book paper and leftover patterned paper where I wanted to place the photograph.

I created an embellishment cluster with a Little Birdie flower and Cloud tag and some other elements.

I first adhered a small piece Cheesecloth before I placed the photograph, and created an embellishment frame around the photograph using flowers the title and the Cloud tag.

To finish off, I stamped a little and splattered some more with the Berry Blast, I  added some Crystals.

I hope this leaves you inspired to create and try out these gorgeous Little Birdie products!

Until next time: Happy creating!

Live, Laugh, Love

Hi there Creatives!

I love the "Texture Brew" paper collection from Little Birdie. It is so versatile, it can form the basis of any layout. Perfect for these black and white photographs of my daughter!

Live, Laugh, Love

Let's start
Little Birdie Products

Step 1
For the background I used a grey colored woodgrain paper from the Texture Brew Collection as frame and a newsprint paper as background. I layered a few pieces of torn woodgrain and other paper and dry brushed with Little Birdie White Gesso. Then I splattered with Berry Blast Color Splash, Black Gesso and White Gesso and stenciled with the "Spotty Stencil and Distress Ink.

Step 1
Step 2
Although the Little Birdie Chipboards are primed already, I painted the "Enchanted Scroll"  and "Live, Laugh Love" Word Chipboard with White and Black Gesso .

Step 2

Step 3
As contrast I also painted some of the red flowers with Black gesso. The photographs were raised and layered over Little Birdie cheesecloth, with the chipboard scrolls and flowers tucked in behind them.

Step 4
Finally I added the title words. To finish the layout off I added a few Rub-on arrows and a photo tag.

I hope this leaves you inspired to create something beautiful!

"Live the Moment" Single Page Layout

Hello Creatives!

This time I’m back with another single page layout. This one has some mixed media elements. I really love the Little Birdie Gesso. I used it on the chipboard title, the sisal and on the background. It is so versatile!

Step one

For the background I selected two coordinating patterned papers and white card-stock. I trimmed the one 0,5" on one vertical and one horizontal side and adhered to the white card-stock so the card-stock forms a frame. The other paper I cut 5" x 7,5". I distressed all the edges before adhering them to the background. I Gesso'd roughly where the layering behind the photograph would be. And made red and gold splatters all over the background with a flared paint brush. Finally I took the stencil and with a fine liner I traced a few areas.

Step Two

Although the Little Birdie chipboard is already prepared, I painted it with a thin layer of Gesso.

Step Three

And I painted the Sisal with Gesso too.

Step Four
I created custom embellishments with glass domes adhered to pattern paper with glossy accents.

Step Five
I cut white corrugated board and bright patterned paper into different sizes to layer behind the photograph. To create some interes I added cheesecloth and the Gesso'd Sisal.

Step Six
A little piece of lace filled the gab at the bottom of the photo.

Step Seven
I created embellishments clusters with flowers, feathers and word stickers.

Step Eight
Finally I added the title and some gold domes to finish the layout off.

I hope this leaves you inspired to create something beautiful !

Wall clock

Hi there creative friends!

Wall clocks have always been a favorite item for me to create. This time I used the Black Currant Color Splash watered down like water color paint to color the white Little Birdie flowers and I also mixed it with clear soft wax over chalk paint to create depth. I like to combine Steampunk elements with more feminine elements like flowers to create a softer feel.

Supplies

Step 1
Stencil gears with the Mixed Media paste randomly across a circle canvas and leave to dry. Once dry paint the top and sides with a light coloured chalk paint. Leave to dry

Step 1

Step 2
Stencil Tinted Metallic Paint : Golden Plum randomly through the "Spotty" stencil across the canvas.

Step 2

Step 3
Adhere twine with Gel Medium to the sides of the circle canvas.

Step 3

Step 4
Spritz a little Black Currant Color Splash on your craft sheet and dilute with a little water to form water-color paint. Paint some of the white flowers. Leave to dry.

Step 4

Step 5
Apply clear wax across the surface, then ad dark wax and the Color Splash to create definition and depth. Once dry, dry brush the raised areas with Tinted Metallic paint: Golden Plum.

Step 5

Step 6
Insert the clock mechanism but do not attach the clock arms yet. You can put the battery in. Decorate with flowers and gears, e few buttons and pearls. Finally ad the arms and your done!

Here are a few close up photos of my clock:

Beautiful

Hi there Creatives!

We recently had a family wedding and my two nieces were the flower girls. They just looked so beautiful with the flower headbands! Just as beautiful as the Little Birdie Flowers!

Step one
I created the layout on grey card-stock with paper from the "Texture Brew" paper pack and pretty flower paper from my stash. I cut a piece of 4.5" x 11,75" and tore the righthand vertical edge, the other edges I distressed.

Step 1

Step two
I adhered the paper to the card-stock and painted an area in the centre with diluted white Gesso, not covering the area completely.

Step 2

Step three
The green fern leaves were painted with white Gesso.

Step 3

Step four
I painted the title and the chipbord with an extra layer of white Gesso to make them appear more white. While the Gesso on the title was still wet, I sprinkled it with a little Little Birdie Mica Powder to add shimmer.

Step 4

Step five
I used a 6" x 6" piece of complimenting paper and Little Birdie cheese cloth to layer behind the photograph that was printed with a small white border. The dimensions of the photograph is 3"x4" and it was raised with cardboard and foam tape.

Step 5

Step 6
When the chipboard was dry, I build embellishment clusters with the flowers, chipboard and the title. I also added glass glitter and glass domes and adhered it with Glossy Accents.

Step 6

Step seven
Finally I added word stickers and ribbon to finish the layout off.

Here are some more close up pictures.
